International distributor was Universal Studios.

Genre:
'French supernatural drama'. I would say it is also a horror (creepy child e.g. the shining) e.g. when mother see's her daughter thinks she is going mad pleonastic sound stereotypical horror genre.

Les Revenants is a classic example of genre hybridity (when different genres combine)

Horror -
Supernatural - Creepy kid following someone home
Drama (also Soap Opera) - Slow paced family drama (arguments, parents have divorced, family member coming back after long time) Mum with the two men (scandal?),
Avant-garde - Experimental way of showing zombies (no rotting after brains)
Zombie - Experimental way of showing zombies (no rotting after brains) but they are dead coming back to life
French -

A Cult TV show
cult following is a group of fans who are highly dedicated to a work of culture, often referred to as a cult classic. A film, book, musical artist, television series or video game, among other things, is said to have a cult following when it has a small but very passionate fanbase. A common component of cult followings is the emotional attachment the fans have to the object of the cult following, often identifying themselves and other fans as members of a community. Cult followings are also commonly associated with niche markets. Cult media are often associated with underground culture, and are considered too eccentric or subversive to be appreciated by the general public or to be commercially successful.
Many cult fans express a certain irony about their devotion.[clarify] Sometimes, these cult followings cross the border to camp followings. Fans may become involved in a subculture of fandom, either via conventionsonline communities or through activities such as writing series-related fiction, costume creation, replica prop and model building, or creating their own audio or video productions from the formats and characters.

Zombie Conventions
Hunger - all the returned are hungry (Camille eating)
Pale faces - (Camille, Victor)
Mortality - Lucy killed in tunnel, Camille returning
Clothing - Camille clothing is atypical - clean clothes, clean face, no injuries
Adeles reaction - shock, horror, non-acceptance. Barricading the door, zombie trying to get into the house. Typical of genre.
Keyboard heavy soundtrack - typical to have keyboard and synth sounds

Night of the living dead
- Wooden barracades
- Horde of slow moving zombies (not in les revenants. All alone, different speeds)
- Move like zombies, stumbling, groaning (not in les revenants.)

Henry Jenkins - Fandom & Textual Poaching

FANDOM - HENRY JENKINS  Fandom refers to a particularly organised and motivated audience of a certain media producer franchise Unlike the generic audience or the classic spectator, fans are active participants in the construction and circulation of textual meanings Fans appropriate texts and read them in ways that are not fully intended by the media producers ("textual poaching") Examples of this may manifest in conventions, fan fiction and so on. Rather than just play a videogame or watch a TV show, fans construct their social and cultural identities throguh borrowing and utilising mass culture images, and may use this 'subcultural capital' to form social bonds. For example, through online forums like Reddit and 4chan.

Mainstream Magazine - Woman (23-29 August 1964) - Set text

Mainstream Magazine - Woman (23-29) August 1964 Weekly magazine by IPC, started publishing in 1937, still publishing today. 1960's sold 3  million copies per week in 1960. 80p in modern money, 7p in that day. Cheap - aimed at working class and some middle-class women. Women magazines became very popular post-war selling around 12 million per week. Perhaps this is because women aspired to be stereotypical housewives and go back to how things used to be and conform to traditional? As they sell 1/4 of the 12 million it is a best selling magazine. A market leader. Capitalist. Consumerism. Ad's everywhere, promotes spending. Layout and design:  Font size, type, colour and connotations:   Called "Woman" implies specifically for females and is a broad, inclusive word e.g. lady formal and fancy while girl is child whereas woman is every grown female. Large font in white to stand out but cursive implying sophistication. "Seven star improvements" imp...
