Gender Performativity
Gender is the hegemonic norms about what it means to be male or female.
Male - Tough, Breadwinner, muscular, not emotional, brave, messy, swagger, leaders.
Female - Emotional, caring, weak, makeup, tidy, follower,

- Identity is a performance, and it is constructed through a series of acts and 'expressions' that we perform everyday.
- While their are different biological differences dictated by sex, our gender is defined through the series of acts. These may include the way we talk, dress, walk and so on
- Therefore, there is no gender identity behind these expressions of gender
- Gender performativity is not a singular act, but rather a repetition and ritual. It is outlined and reinforced through dominant patriarchal (hegemonic) ideologies.
